I was staring out my kitchen window this morning, when I saw an old friend running by. She was as in shape as any normal Olympic athlete you might see every four years. Ageless, tan, bouncy hair, perky...ahem...let's just say there was not an ounce of fat to be witnessed on her. (Trust me, I tried.)
I watched her run down the rest of our street (like the stalker that I am) and looked down at my own soft belly sticking out over my pajama bottoms. I scanned my yoga mat in the corner and then the clock to see what kind of time I had left before all the kids would be up. Twenty minutes.
Twenty beautiful minutes...what to do, what to do? Then it came to me. I was on it.
In case you're wondering, Circus peanuts taste divine on top of Captain Crunch.
You're welcome.

Sew What?
Hello friends.
Well, the sewing-of-the-bags has slowed down a bit. You know how much I enjoy all of it. I'm just trying to get motivated again. In case you didn't know, it's been hot as a campfire frying pan outside!
I'm not complaining. The sunny skies have been gorgeous. The (little) rain we've received has been very welcome and to be honest, I haven't killed all of my outdoor plants. Yet. Score!
One of the real reasons I haven't been hooked to my sewing machine: My kids are home for the summer and I have truly enjoyed having them around. They've been both helpful and hilarious. Even though I go to bed most nights thoroughly exhausted, I know that during the day, we were all present together. I don't want to take that for granted..
I have had some custom bag orders in the last few months that have been a lot of fun to create. Working with each customer has been a blast. It kind of feels like a team effort, you know?
I do have a few things left in the shop. I'm trying to put new items in as I go, so check back often. As always, if you need something in particular, leave me an inbox at the shop or email me on that little envelope sitting on the right side of my blog.
I hope you are all eating Popsicles, wading in some cool water or at least reading in the shade of a big old tree.
Happy Tuesday, friends!
Here are a few pics of bags I've made in the last few months. All were custom orders. I'm blessed to have customers with so much trust!

The kindness of siblings...
"I can still feel his fur.."
-quote from the still-shivering seven-year old. He was bribed by his older brother and sister to hug a man who was wearing a cow costume. This all went down yesterday, at the Chik-fil-A.
Is getting a five dollar bill EVER worth hugging a stranger who is busy giving out free waffle fries?
Who are these children?
I totally would have done it for free.
Well, for the free waffle fries.
There is no shame in hugging people dressed as farm animals, people. THAT is a lesson I learned a long time ago... in college...
... Oh, wait.
Happy "do-what-you-have-to-do-when-you're-hungry, poor, or have-lost-your-dignity" day, friends.
