Fall Bags 2012

Hello friends.

I know. It has only been Autumn for three days, but I'm already enjoying dressing for the cooler mornings and less steamy afternoons. It is currently the "layering" stage here in Utah. I can still get away with my flip flops, but now I can also comfortably wear my cardigans. Yesterday I was sweating on the back steps, this morning it is snowing in the mountains.

Have you switched out your short sleeved T's for sweaters yet? Have your boots or wool skirts found their way to the front of your closet? They will.

What could go better with your fall wardrobe?

Aw, that's right! A new shellybean bag!

I'm putting a few in the shop tomorrow (9/26). If you're interested, click on that little Artfire button (tomorrow!) on the right of this blog and go have a peek. (no peeking until Wednesday!)

The bags are made from buttery faux (of course!) leather and crisp cotton. $30 + shipping/handling. If you have a coupon, this is the time to use it!

Of course, if you like the style but want a different color, inbox me in the shellybean shop. As always, thanks for looking and for your never-ending support.

  1. Mmmm...I love the aqua and brown diamond and the green and white moda. :)

My favorite thing to wear this time of year is a big, baggy hoodie.

    1. Hey C. Is there anything better than a hoodie in this weather? Mine is aqua and is showing it's love by unraveling at the sleeves. Still wearing it! Thanks for commenting :)

    2. The brown diamond is my favorite but they are all beautiful. That is quite a challenge you took on with the new fabrics. You did a fantastic job. My favorite winter wear is anything fur-boots, vests, jackets, sweaters, you name it.

    3. Thanks Mary. That faux leather was very different to work with. My sewing machine needs a little TLC now. Thanks, though :) I hope you get a bit more Fall before the snow comes! I bet the leaves are already beautiful :)

  2. Wow, Shellybean, they are beautiful. You are truly gifted, lucky you. My kids would hide their art projects from me so I wouldn't try to give advice. They know I can't even color between the lines. Thanks for making me jealous!

    1. Thanks Karen. Not gifted, just pent-up energy. You know how you have to pay bills or feed your kids? That's when I sew!! NEVER EVER color inside the lines! That's why we're friends! I'll sew you a bag, you make me some biscotti!!

  3. The bags look great! Good work - I heard those leather straps were hard to flip. I'm sure these bags will go fast tomorrow.

Winter clothing all ready? I guess it is good I never really put it away this year. Sweat pants, here I come!

    1. Ah, thanks for all that "flipping" man. I don't know what I'd do without your help :) Sweats never go out of season. One of these days, I'll get out of mine and into something better suited for one of those shellybean bags. Ha :) No hurry on selling though..that will just mean more handles to flip and you look like you need a day off <3

    2. The handles on the bags look amazing. It takes extra special flipping ability to make them look that good. Cudos to the flipping genius. (pun intended)

    3. HAHAHAHAHAHA. THe man will love that :)

  4. I love the Black Typography bag. Would make me feel all 'wordy' and smart-like. :)

It's getting hotter here, so am sadly saying good-bye to the warm bedding and long pants; it's back to sweltering and seeking out the aircon.

Good luck with selling these lovely bags, but I'm sure they'll be snapped up in no time!

  7. So excited. I have been waiting for your new inventory. My friend told me the other day at lunch that her shellybean bag is her absolute favorite. Thought I'd pass that on.

We are still in shorts and T-shirts here, but at least it is the mid-80s so jeans are bearable outside. Something just seems wrong about going to a football game in shorts and drinking ice water instead of hot chocolate. Oh well, that's the trade-off for being able to hike in January.

Have a wonderful day. Got some shopping to do.

    1. Ann, you're adorable. I'm really happy to hear that your friend likes her bag. That makes my day.

Mid-80's. In a few weeks, that will be a dream! Ice water at a football game sounds odd for sure :) While you're cheering your team on in shorts, I'll probably be wrapped in a Snuggie!

Seriously Ann, I appreciate your support. I hope your new shelllybean will fit in with the warm weather! <3

  8. Oh Love your bags!!! my problem would be choosing which one...
As for autumn well the t-shirts are well and truly away and I hate to say it but winter duvet, thermal vest, winter jackets are the order for the day including the scarves having found their way out of the drawers-I am freezing :-(. Really loving those bags going to have another wee look. :-) Smiles.

Thanks for your compliments on the bags..you are so kind. If you ever have any questions, let me know.
Smiles right back at you :)

  9. Oh, Shell! The bags are just perfect! They are super professional and stylish! You are amazing! I have officially put away my flip flops :( and pulled forward all my socks and tennis-shoes. All my hoodies have come forth ready for duty. It must be amazing to see the snow on the mountains. Miss you guys!

    1. Thanks, Savannah! That was such a nice reply.

Hoodies are popular pieces of clothing this winter. I may have to pick up a new one :) As much as I'm not looking forward to the cold, I'm kind of excited to wear my boots and wool mittens. For now, the snow can stay up in the mountains where it belongs...

Hope you are well. Give my brother a big hug from his slightly older sister :)

  10. Hi, I'm back! WOW! Great bags! Love them! You make them? That's amazing! Hard to say what my favorite thing to wear is with this kind of weather. It's still in high 80s and low 90's here. Summer just doesn't want to let go! Oh! I do miss snuggling in my cardigans.

  12. All of the bags in the shop have sold. If you see a style or color combination that you like, I'd be happy to make a new shellybean bag for you! Inbox me at the shellybean shop (click on that Artfire button on the righthand side of the blog to get there). Thanks for your business and support :)

  13. They're all so beautiful and all sold, congrats! I'm a little late getting to all of this, but they look terrific.
Winter clothing...I have 5 or 6 hoodies that I love. I have to represent each of the girls' schools, and the activities they do in those schools. (and that's without counting the littles and their schools and activities! Luckily, they're not into sports with booster clubs trying to make money by selling hoodies, yet.) Then there is the great big pink Minnie Mouse hoodie that the husband (still loving being able to use that!) got me when we went to Disney last month, even though it was 100 degrees (literally...in SoCal...while it was only in the low 80s and beautiful back home). Right now, though, we're still in the 80s during the day and 60s at night. Almost perfect weather for me!!!
One fun story before I post: my #3 daughter was using a purse this week that I didn't recognize. When I commented she said, "oh, I got that for Christmas last year, but never really used it because I got my shellybean at the same time." She's been using the bag for at least 6 months straight and it's still going strong!

    1. Thank you Hilarie! I just received the sweetest "Thank You" card. Now it's my turn. Thanks for the kind words and for telling me that your daughter enjoyed her shellybean bag. Tell her that your comment made my day :) I always wonder if people "really" use them. I know that sounds crazy, but I always worry.
Hey, we just got back from SoCal. Very fun and very beautiful.
We don't have booster clubs selling the hoodies. It's always wrapping paper or Entertainment books. Dang. I would absolutley buy a hoodie or three :)
Enjoy the beautiful days we have left before the cold.. Well, Texas cold!

  14. Wow! Great job! Your bags are so gorgeous and professional looking. I need to make a bag for myself too but I'm scared to sew faux leather. Do you need leather needles to sew faux leather? Do you need special threads too?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Aw, thank you very much. Faux leather is a bit scary at first. My secret is to sew on the wrong side of it as much as you can. The feed dogs don't like the "leather side". Some people use tissue paper over it (the leather side) then peel it off later. The best thing for me though has been baby powder. I dust it with a make up brush on the parts going through the machine. It just slips through! I use a #11 needle and regular thread on a long stitch. go sloooooow! Give it a try :)
