"I can still feel his fur.."
-quote from the still-shivering seven-year old. He was bribed by his older brother and sister to hug a man who was wearing a cow costume. This all went down yesterday, at the Chik-fil-A.
Is getting a five dollar bill EVER worth hugging a stranger who is busy giving out free waffle fries?
Who are these children?
I totally would have done it for free.
Well, for the free waffle fries.
There is no shame in hugging people dressed as farm animals, people. THAT is a lesson I learned a long time ago... in college...
... Oh, wait.
Happy "do-what-you-have-to-do-when-you're-hungry, poor, or have-lost-your-dignity" day, friends.
As always you made me smile. We had a similar experience with the man-in-a-cow-suit a couple of weeks ago, only my girls ran away screaming rather than succumb to the peer pressure of their brothers. I guess they have a ways to go.
ReplyDeleteAnn, I am so glad you stopped by. Your daughters were smart not to give-in to the fast food offerings of the cows. HA! See your name in my comment section ALWAYS makes me smile. I hope summer is being kind to your family!
Delete*seeing. dang auto-correct
Deleteenjoyed my quick read... take care, slu
ReplyDeleteThanks, SLu. They are ALL quick reads; I have three kids! Seriously, thanks for stopping by. Your post the other day made me cry..
DeleteHa, I would hug a farm animal for a band-aid and a tic-tac...I have no shame. :) Your blog always gives me a much needed laugh. Thank you! Also, love the new summer layout.
ReplyDeleteglad you like the new layout, anonymous. It's like changing furniture around, not a lot is new, but every once in a while I like to freshen things up.
DeleteOh the things my sisters have tricked me into doing... haha. Love your kids so much! I love the pic btw. Oh and I love you all!
ReplyDeleteSiblings will do that. The youngest child is always the one most-at-risk..LOL. I can't imagine all the things we did to our brother....THe kids love you too. Chris was just talking about Egyptian Rat tail and Al is always so touched to see your kind comments on her FB page. Thanks for being so kind to my kids; it means more to Mark and I than you could know.
DeleteSiblings never do things out of cruel intentions... Well, not always. We only did it to make him a stronger, richer, more experienced American Child. ;) I don't know what part was better.. The hilarious look of pure terror on Jonah's face as he walked up to the cow, or the terror on Chris' as Jonah walked back to get his hard earned money.. hahahaha hey, that bet was better than when Chris told Jonah he'd pay him 10 bucks to call me mom in Target... You wouldn't believe the looks I got!
ReplyDelete-Alice!
I don't know about stronger or richer, but you are definitely making him feel like one of the family. I heard Jo asked Chris for 20 dollars if he could call you "grandma". I love it...and you. It's nice to read your words.
Deletegood post about
ReplyDeleteThe kindness of siblings...
Thanks, Obat!
DeleteSO FUNNY! I love it. I once made my sister believe aliens were coming to earth.
ReplyDeleteGo you! It's the older child's job to do such things, don't you think? So glad to know my kids (or me) aren't the only ones!
DeleteSee that's why siblings are fantastic. They keep each other grounded. I mean, abject humility is good for the soul...um...at least that's what I use to tell my little brother....
ReplyDeleteTracy @ Momaical
I think it's a right of passage for ALL siblings. I'm just glad I was the oldest.
DeleteIf it's good for the soul, my little sister and brother should be saints by now!
