Matriarchy at its finest...

The man sat our boys down to talk before leaving on his business trip. He went over the rules and expectations that would be in place while he was gone.

"You boys are going to have to be the men-of-the-house until I get back. Do you know what that means?" he asked.

"Yeah." they answered half-heartedly while looking at each other.

Wondering if he was really getting through to the youngest, the man asked, "What exactly does it mean to be the man-of-the house?"

The youngest, looking more grown than he should, sat up straight in his chair. He looked his father in the eyes and answered,

"It means mom is still in charge."

The middle child shrugged his shoulders while he nodded in agreement.

The man looked at me.  With a crooked smile and suitcase in hand he said, "Well, my work here is done."

Aw, my babies are all grown up.

It's a proud moment for this "head-of-the-house". ;)

Happy Sunday, friends.

  5. Yes, mom is still in charge - they got that pretty clear. And I know they will respect that thanks to a little bribe. See, the next time that mom is out I promised they could live by the "dad is in charge" rules, which are very different (i.e. - pretty much anything goes). Of course, we don't tell the head of the household about this. I don't think she reads any more comments once she has replied to the first batch so hopefully this secret is still safe - if not, sorry boys. :)

  6. Number One: I read all of my comments. Number Two: What does "anything goes" mean? Number Three: Please, please enlighten me on the exact date in which I will be "out" without the children. No secret is safe from me. LOL. Love, HMIC (head mom in charge) :)

  7. #1 OK, lesson learned.
#2 An example of anything goes - "You want candy for dinner - sure!"
#3 Those special occasions when you get your hair done or go with a good friend to VI - that is usually a guaranteed three hours of "anything goes" around here. We are always ready for you to come home though - we love our HMIC and don't know what we would do without her!
