Day 28 of Forty: Twinkies for lunch.

Me: (walking from the kitchen to the living room with two Hostess treats in my hands)  "Hey, Oldest Child. Look at these Twinkies. They have six holes instead of three. See? There are three on the top and three on the......."

Daughter: (Sliding into the hallway on her socks and grabbing one of the Twinkies from me.)  "Shhhhhhhhhh! Mom! Don't taunt the Twinkie Makers! " Sliding back into the living room with her treat, she finishes her words of wisdom. "NEVER question why there might be extra cream filling OR where it may have come from. Geesh!"

How blessed can I be with such quality mother-daughter bonding?

Thank you, Wonder bread Store with half-off boxes of Twinkies. And Chocolate Cupcakes. And Ho-Hos.
I shall never question the mechanics of your cream filling again.

You know I'm going to ask. What's your favorite Hostess food? If you don't eat the kind of processed foods that don't have expiration dates, I'll have to ask you not to participate at this time :)

Happy Tuesday, friends :)

  1. As usual, I'll tell you my favorite. I actually love the red Zingers with coconut. They could be raspberry or strawberry flavored; I'm not sure. They are however "can't-eat-just-one" kind of delicious!

  2. I flipping love the red Zingers. Charley and I believe that the only true Zinger is the red ones. If I ask you to go to the store and pick up some Zingers, you better bring home the red coconut delights.
Then there are the orange cupcakes. Just like the chocolate cup cakes, but with yummy orange flavor. Pete pointed out some banana cream twinkies at the store the other day and you know I will have to try one.

    1. K, Al and I were just talking about this. She said her best friend loves the chocolate zingers. The chocolate what? I thought red zingers were the only zingers! I have a friend who brought me the banana filled twinkles- they are also yummy! The man's grandma used to work at the Hostess factory and would talk about twinkles coming off the line before they were filled..all warm and stuff. I tell you, it brings tears to my eyes. Warm Twinkies? Heaven!

    1. Snowballs! The pink or the white ones? We used to eat those every time we'd go fishing when I was little. And king Dongs- are those the ones wrapped in foil? I loved peeling the chocolate off those. So sad that my childhood memories are of sugar snacks... :) Thanks for commenting Brenda! I love hearing from you <3

  4. Chocolate cupcakes! Mmm. <3
Always the most insightful quotes from the eldest. Thanks for the wonderful image of a fatkid with nothing profound to say except acknowledging the fact that one of the twinkie makers loved us just a little more. It's no big deal, truly!
Nothing classier than praising double-stuffed twinkies! ;)

  5. Double stuffed twinkies, huh? What will they think of next? My personal favorites (other than twinkies) are the powered donuts and apple fruit pies - both very yummy!

    1. Mmmm fruit pies. Cherry though. And cinnamon powdered donuts. Nom Nom..

    2. I tell you, I just had one of those cherry fruit pies and it was as bad as the Willy Wonka remake. It is true that you can't ever come home again. There is no love in those pies, no fruit and no glossy coating of sugar...it took me days to get over the heartbreak of it all.
