Tea Table

Hey-O friends! I hope you're enjoying your weekend...

I thought I'd show you one of the projects I've been working on.. I had all of the materials on hand so this revamp was free. That's right. My garage is now missing three cans of spray paint and my fabric stash is a yard or two lighter of older material. Woo Hoo! It's called progress, right?

Here is a short picture story of what I used to make a fun table for enjoying a nice cup of tea...

This is my cute wrought iron set. We never use it because the paint comes off on your clothes and it has some sharp edges that snag. Plus it's iron. In the sun. It's hot and it burns your.....blah blah blah

A few pages of sand paper and every single drop of the spray paint I bought for some other project......

I used the yellow fabric for the seat cushions and black for a table cover. It is light and airy enough for summer. I know, black is not exactly a summer color, but it's so fun! The polka dot ribbon was used to hang a chandelier. The picture would better if I actually had candles, but...

It's cute, right?

If you knew how spatially challenged I am, you would be doing cartwheels after seeing how well those round cushions fit.  Bony bottoms rejoice!!

If it didn't feel like the Apocalypse outside with the heat, I might have spent a bit more time setting that table. This is what I could do with ice blocks under my arms....

Finally, a picture of the best actors/helpers in the world. They are not at all making fun of their mother and her tea table. mmmhmm. BTW, the youngest was inside with the air conditioning, eating a Bomb Pop and contemplating locking the door...

Keep Cool, friends :)

Rock on, friends.

Hello friends!  Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been (like most of the country) trying to stay cool. At our house, that means lots of Popsicles, lemonades, water and cookies. I know that last one won't keep us cool, but it sure makes momma happy...

I've been working on a few projects around the house as well. Mostly painting and sewing. I'll share more this weekend..

To pass away the time and to the probable dismay of my sweet neighbors, I've been rocking out to my ipod on stereo. When I say "rocking out," I totally mean lame eighties ballads and Broadway songs. To the great embarrassment of my teens, I throw on my bribe-worthy daisy dukes and tank top, (think Twinkie, with too much cream) grab my paintbrush and sing along to "Total Eclipse of the Heart". At the top of my lungs..

Turn around....Every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you're never coming round..
Turn around,...Every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears...

Sorry. I just. Can't. Stop. Plus, I'm in love with the fact that Bonnie Tyler's voice is echoing in your head right now....

So, what are you listening to? Like the old' Facebook game. Put your ipod on shuffle. Leave me a message of your first five songs. If you don't have an ipod, point randomly to your CDs. Or cassette tapes. Or eight-tracks.  Or your '78s. You get it. Don't cheat. I need to know what my readers are listening to....Shuffle people.

My first five-

1. Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. Yeah, that song never gets old...

2. Delirious by Prince. Love Love Love myself some Prince

3. Seasons of Love -Rent Musical. Yep, I told ya. Musicals forever, man.

4. Don't you Remember by Adele. Can I just say that if I were still listening to cassettes, I'd be doing that little wind-the-tape thing with a pencil from overplay...

5. Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) by MIKA.  If you have not listened to MIKA, you are missing out. Think Freddie Mercury meets Elton John. Only peppier. If that is possible. His album, "Life in Cartoon Motion" helped me paint my last house. 'Just saying.

Have a wonderful Thursday, bright eyes! (Turn around...)
Every now and then I fall apart....

Yeah, good luck getting rid of that little tune...

Freaky Fourth....

***Warning- gory picture ahead.....

When does a woman (yep, yours truly) yell and curse at an inanimate object? (In this case, a large chair...)

When her youngest jumps on it and splits his lip wide open. It required a trip to the clinic, and then to the ER. We were eventually told said lip would heal on its own...in a few weeks.

Never mind how many times we've asked the youngest NOT to jump from chair to chair.

Never mind that he was asked to be careful while wearing a Jedi costume twice his size.

Never mind that he broke the rules by removing chair cushions so he could "land on them" whilst fighting invisible clones.

No. When you're staring at your frightened, blood covered child and he is begging you to help him, you forget all that. In an instant. You wrap him in your arms, drive him to the nearest 18 year-old physician and pray that he will tell you that your child is okay.

You breathe deeply when you find out he won't need stitches or plastic surgery. You take your "baby" home and feed him (and his swollen mouth) all the Popsicles he wants. Then you walk over to the evil chair, replace the trauma-causing cushion and kick it hard. In turn, it gives you a swollen, stubbed toe....

What kind of upholstered monster is that, anyway??

Da** chair. It's got to go.

Happy (safe) weekend friends.
